Trust is something that a leader earns, and has to work at to maintain.
Most people can discern the difference between a leader who is just out to make a buck , and the leader who desires to make a difference.
In his book High Trust Selling , Todd Duncan states that a high level of trust by both the seller (in our case, the leader), and the buyer (in our case, the subscriber/follower) will lead to successful business relationship for both parties.
Whoa … read that again! Both parties in a business relationship need to have a high level of trust in each other. The follower needs a high level of trust in his leader (of course), AND the leader also needs a high level of trust in his follower. In such a relationship, both parties can go forward knowing that the other is not out to get them, but that the relationship ensures that each party will act with integrity towards the other. We know that there can be no guarantees between the parties regarding earnings, but there can be guarantees that each party can TRUST the other to behave towards them with integrity and in return, they will give the same level of integrity back to the other party.
Now, if you apply this to a team where high levels of trust are experienced between team members (even those who are not followers of the same leader), you end up with an extremely powerful team who care about each other, help each other, and share with each other without infringing on the leader/follower relationships that already exist.
Oh, such teams and individuals do exist! Those who are prepared to help without expecting a return, but they may be hard to find. However, they may also be easier to find than you think.
