How to Make Money Online For Free - Start With a Blog

There are so many people searching for ways to make money online for free. Not too long ago, I would have told you it's easy to learn how to make money online, but there is likely to be some nominal investment. There are 2 critical steps you must master if you want to learn how to make money online: getting traffic to a website and converting your traffic to buyers. With the rise in popularity of blogging and other ways to generate traffic, that minimal investment has almost disappeared. More recently, I can tell you that learning how to make money online FOR FREE is also easy, thanks to free blogs and free traffic from social media networks.

The critical first step to learning how to make money online for free is having a blog. If you are truly committed, and you want to learn how to make a legitimate income online while you sleep, for years and years to come, you cannot rely on sales pages created by another party. The most amazing thing is that you can set up a blog for free. This article is going to convince you why you need a blog if you want to learn how to make money online for free.

1) Safe Place

A blog is a safe place for prospective client to discover more about you, read your material, warm up to you and decide if they want to do business with you. On a blog, they can look without buying. On a blog, they can acquaint themselves without having to give you contact details.

2) Branding & Positioning

People don't buy products, they buy solutions. Your blog will show potential customers how you provide solutions to their problems, not try to sell products. People pull away when they feel someone is pitching a product to them, which can result in you chasing them. The most successful online marketers never chase customers. Instead, lucrative online marketers position themselves as experts in their field. On a blog, you can reveal everything you know about your widget or service, so they can find a solution to their problem. A blog silently communicates that you are trying to help them, not cheat them. So that when they recognize they need a solution, they will turn to an expert - you. A blog is a great FREE tool that shifts your marketing message from pushing customers away to pulling them in.

3) Amplifies List Building Efforts

Those looking to make money online for free, will certainly be looking for free website traffic. The most probable source of free traffic is social media. It is much more effective to direct Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and MySpace followers to a website (your blog) than to a sales page. It communicates that you are serious about your business. In addition, you are able to gather so many more e-mail addresses because you are a real business, not doing this as a hobby.

4) Building Equity

This is the most important reason for starting a blog. Every time you post an article to your blog, you are building your content. It will only take a few short months, if you post consistently a few times a week, to build an incredibly valuable asset. All your articles generate FREE traffic and that never expires. Even if you stop posting, you will continue to get FREE traffic from 3 months worth of daily posting for years and years to come.

Learning how to make money online for free will take time and effort, but it can be done. Setting up and posting to a blog is a critical starting point for long term success. What I love most about blogging is that people can be their true self and it's the most genuine and authentic way to make money online for free.

Income From Google Adsense

Let Me Write Something About Me First PLease.

Hi! I am a complete newbie in the internet business, and yes up to this time that I am making this blog i barely made a few dollars in my PayPal Account. I have no knowledge on anything about internet marketing, website building, domains and hostings, PPC, CPA, and all these stuff.

But, what I have is the drive to work at home with my pc and the internet. I always believed that there is really A way - The way - on how to make an income online.

I tried a lot of programs besides knowing the danger of scammers; and yes, I was scammed a lot of times. I was aware of the risk right from the start, but there was just no other way for me to find out but to try it; and so it happened. I was hardly hit by a number of hundred dollars in trying those programs and am gonna share all about it in my next postings.

Without a proof of earning what am I doing making this blog(?) I am not in the position to write anything since I have no success testimony to share. Yeah! But you know what. I would like this blog to be an INSPIRATION for all the newbies like me who are doing their best, giving all their time, putting all efforts and resources together hoping against hope to make it, and earn an income online.

I know how it is to stay late at night researching on what to do; how to do it; which is which; and all these questions propagating in my head. Browsing the internet day in and day out. Reading programs, surfing for credits, networking and socializing, blogging, joining forums, doing PTC and PTR, sending emails, doing paid and online surveys, joining affiliate programs, and so forth.

But. Did I make Money? the answer is as I said NO and NO!

You know why am not earning? setting aside my being scammed; the answer is it is because

I did not do any widespread advertising. Laugh at me! Yes! because I have no money to pay for advertising. I did made a Google Ad-words ad for $100. but i just used it up earning nothing. and still I knew why because I never had the slightest idea on how to make it work - the secret of keywords in advertising and all the other tricks there is.

Exhausting! it really is. I felt so alone and helpless; even more so when my friends would raise their eyebrows learning about my internet activities, they would say "Oh come on internet are all FRAUD. there is nothing true to it. it's all a SCAM, you're wasting your time. " and with my haggard face. they would say "look at you, what are you doing wasting yourself?". hhhhmmmnnn I can not blame them, I know they are just concerned about me. Yet-still, deep down in me I am not giving up! I know I can do it! I just need to move forward, use the resources that I have, follow the instructions of the people that made it online. What is important is I know what I want to do, I know that I love what am doing, and am all willing to learn, and I know my GOAL.

And so to all the newbies that are reading this. THE KEYWORD IS. "To never give up" because there is always light at the end of the tunnel. and YOU are not ALONE. there are a lot like us experiencing the same. so, let's lift and hold hand and hand together because we'll gonna make it. Soon. we will become one of internet business's another success story! Gotta believe it!

6. Apply to Become a YouTube Partner

After you followed all the previous steps you are ready to apply. You can do that via the official YouTube Partner Program page. It might take a while to get your application considered due to the load of people applying, but once you get accepted you'll be able to start displaying ads on your videos right away.

Types of Ads

Next let’s break down the types of advertisements on YouTube. You’re probably familiar with them if you watch any amount of YouTube videos. There’s the bottom text based ad that is displayed at the bottom of your video, and then there is the clip that plays at the beginning of your video. You can select which of these ads your video can have, and it might make a difference depending on your audience or how much revenue your video brings in.

The way advertising works with YouTube is probably one of the most complicated things that comes with trying to make money off of YouTube. The real estimate comes out to about $7.50 per 1,000 impressions. The difficult part is actually defining the word ‘impressions.’ The only time you make money on YouTube is when someone interacts with your ad or when it leaves an ‘impression’ on them.

This means that if someone skips an ad, or is running an ad blocker, then you don’t get paid for that view. This makes estimating the amount of views a video has and how much a user makes off of the video very challenging. It also depends if it’s a video ad at the front of your video, or just a box at the bottom of your page; this determines how many people interact with your ad and the amount of money that can be made.

At the end of the day, though, there are a lot of variables that can affect just how much you can make on YouTube. Your audience has a lot to do with the type of ad that would work best. For example, if you are making short funny videos, it’s probably best to not include a 30-second ad at the beginning—a viewer might just skip right on by. Luckily, YouTube has an analytics page that you can use to see just about every measurable aspect of your video—from demographics to time of day watched and location.

5. Make Sure Your Content Has Zero Copyrighted Material

If there's one thing that will get your application rejected on the spot is copyright infringement, so make sure you have zero copyrighted material on your videos.

This includes images, graphics, logos, video clips and audio. For instance, even just using a music on the background which you don't have permission to could get your application rejected.

4. Develop A Brand Around Your Videos

This step is not essential, but I think it helps a lot on getting approve. You need to remember that, once you meet the technical guidelines, it will be a person on the other site deciding on whether you are a good fit for becoming a YouTube Partner or not. In other words, the more professional you look the higher your chances.

Practical tips include:

Create a website to host your videos and give your audience more wayts to interact Create a nice logo and use it everywhere Use a watermark on your videos with your logo Consider getting a professional intro made for your videos Customize your YouTube channel to make it look professional

3. Get Videos Out There Regularly

If you only have one or two videos uploaded your chances of getting accepted are low, even if those videos went viral. That's because YouTube is looking for people who are planning to work with them over the long term.

The more regularly and frequently you upload new videos, the better. For instance, someone who uploads a new video every day will have a better chance of getting accepted than someone who uploads one every couple of weeks.

You also want to make sure you have at least 100 uploaded videos before applying to become a partner (though some people say 50 will be enough).

Turn your video productions into money in the bank

Shares

YouTube’s DIY videos, and the ready availability of the tools we need to make them, have gone a long way to changing the public perception of visual entertainment. A lofty statement, perhaps, but consider that an estimated 300 hours of content are uploaded to YouTube every minute, and around four billion videos are viewed on the site daily. Can traditional TV match those numbers?

YouTube pays, too, in a number of ways. Becoming one of its bigger earners isn’t an instant win – you’ll only succeed if you can attract viewers – but there’s money to be made if you’re dedicated and ready to exploit every avenue available. But how do you actually go about that? Listen up for some key pointers.

1. Build an audience

The first major point, and we cannot stress this enough, is that if nobody is watching your videos, you will not make an appreciable amount of money. Tiny channels with only a few hundred subscribers might make a few pennies per video on ads, but since Google’s AdSense program sets a marker on the amount you must earn before you’re able to withdraw funds, you might never see any of it.

Building an audience means doing several things. First, and most important, is creating regular, attractive content that viewers will return to again and again. Push subscriptions, likes and comments so that YouTube’s algorithm looks favourably on you, and add relevant tags, thumbnails and titles to your video so you stand out from the crowd.

2. Interact

An audience that knows you’re paying attention to them is one which will be attentive in return. As painful as it may be, it makes sense to trawl through your YouTube comments and reply (nicely) to anyone with a question. This will also give you a slight nudge up the YouTube ranking algorithm, so it’s a double win.

Consider also following and subscribing to similar channels, ideally those with a slightly bigger audience than your own. Getting friendly with the bigger guys will help you get noticed, and if you’re really chummy you may even end up collaborating together – nothing boosts subscriber numbers like a collaboration video aimed at a pre-existing perfect audience.

3. Host ads with AdSense

Google’s primary method of monetising your videos is by showing pre-roll or interstitial ads. You’ll need to register your YouTube account to accept monetisation here. register an AdSense account (follow the guide here ), and ensure you click the appropriate check box when uploading your videos.

Bear in mind that certain content may be against YouTube’s content guidelines – presumably to avoid offending any advertisers – and as such may be denied any ad support. You’ll also run into trouble if you use any copyrighted content, or content identified as such by YouTube’s automated systems – if you do, your revenue will either be swallowed up by the copyright holder, or your video will be blocked.

4. Attract Red subscribers

YouTube Red, the site’s ad-free subscription service, can also help line your pockets. But if you’re going for Red subscribers – and there aren’t a huge number of them as yet – it pays to know that it deals out the money in a slightly different way. Basically, a chunk of that subscription fee is shared between the content creators each viewer likes; if a particular Red subscriber spends a long time watching your content, you’ll get a bigger slice.

Don’t think this means you should be producing two-hour epics every day – that’s a great way to turn off viewers, not engage them – but steer clear of five-second shorts, since they’ll earn you nothing.

If you’re already registered to receive money via AdSense, you don’t need to do anything more to collect YouTube Red funds. And if you’re a big channel (and you’d have to be a very big channel) perhaps you could join the likes of PewDiePie and Rhett Link in producing Red-exclusive content…

5. Pick up sponsors and brand deals

Once your channel reaches a certain size, you’ll be eligible to produce paid promotions – properly highlighted, of course, to ensure you don’t fall foul of advertising regulations – which will enable you to pick up a little money outside the purview of YouTube’s internal monetisation schemes.

If you have a huge channel, advertisers may well come to you to offer a sweet deal. Great! Enjoy your inflated bank balance. In the far more likely event of you not having a channel quite so large, you’ll need to hit the email, pushing appropriate brands to join you. That might not be so easy.

Whichever route you choose, you need to make sure that your brand partnerships are, while obvious, neither dull and overt nor too loose and flaky. Your viewers are the most important thing, and they expect quality content. Don’t deviate from your usual format too far, or they’ll be quickly turned off.

6. Let them pay

A committed audience might also be a generous one, and many content creators subsidise their ad revenue, and fund more elaborate videos, by taking donations from viewers via Patreon. Pushing it too hard or blatantly begging will never work, but letting viewers know at the end of a video that they’re welcome to contribute – and perhaps even rolling the names of some supporters – can be a good way to generate additional funds.

It’s a bit of an aside – we are talking about YouTube here, after all – but Twitch streaming can be valuable if you’re creating gaming-focused content. You can integrate your Twitch account with your YouTube account to inform viewers when you have a stream running, and live engagement with viewers can do wonders for donation income.

7. Merchandise

Don’t underestimate the enthusiasm of a dedicated audience. Get them on side enough and they may well be willing to part with money to advertise your brand for you. Or, at least, they might buy a T-shirt or two.

If you don’t want to go to the trouble of setting up your own merchandise store there are plenty of options: Spreadshirt will print up shirts on demand and deal with all the stocking and mailing of them, while a service like Big Cartel helps you set up a storefront and leaves the rest to you.

If you’re selling merch, make sure you highlight the fact. Some channels leave links to their wares in video descriptions, others in pre - or post-roll video sections, and some even go as far as making specific videos dedicated to selling their stuff. Consider just how friendly your audience is before you commit to one or the other.

First Steps

Making a lot of money on YouTube is not as easy as you might think. There are a lot of hurdles to overcome in the process. It's definitely not a way to get rich quick. However, if you have a hobby. are really good at a particular activity and would like to help people, are funny, or even if you just want to have some fun, YouTube is a great option to cash in some extra bucks doing something you love.

The first and probably most obvious starting point is set up YouTube account. You should have an idea of the types of videos that you want to upload. Next you’ll want to Enable monetization and sign up for Google AdSense.

Enabling monetization means that you agree you will only upload video content that you have the rights for and that you will play by the rules (such as not watching your own video over and over to boost ads). Google AdSense is the way you set up your payment information for when you actually start making money. I’ve posted links in the show notes of today’s episode so that you don’t have to hunt around for these links.

Next up you’ll want to become a YouTube Partner. This isn’t as hard as it used to be. In the past, to become a YouTube partner you had to have some 15,000 hours of your video watched at any point in time. The benefit here is that you can upload more than 15 minutes of video, which may help on some video projects. You also get analytics tools and some more advanced editing tools.

Now that you have monetization setup, along with Google AdSense, and YouTube partnership, you’re ready to go.

2. Grow Your Audience on YouTube

One of the most important criteria the YouTube guys will use to evaluate your application is the audience you reach on YouTube. They don't reveal what are the requirements, but I've seen many people say these are the ballpark numbers you need to have before getting accepted:

at least 1,000 subscribers at least 1,000 views on all your videos at least 10,000 channel views

These are the very minimum though, if you want to make sure you'll get accepted I would aim for 5,000 subscribers, 50,000 channel views and over 1,000,000 upload views total.

1. Make Sure You Have an AdSense Account

While the process to be able to display ads on your YouTube videos is a separate one, your earnings and stats will go together with your AdSense account, so you need to have one.

In theory you could apply to become a YouTube partner before having an AdSense account, and in case you get accepted you would then follow up with an AdSense application. I believe the other way around is much simpler, though.
