I totally agree with you. The law of thought and also the law of attraction are two that I strongly believe in. I write my goals down on a piece of paper and read them out loud 2 times a day. I believe when you can start to tell yourself something often, you will begin to believe it and hence the outcome will be what you desire. Yes, you must know that you can achieve your goals in order for them to happen. If you truly know that it will happen then it will. The trick is to just let it happen. It is when our minds are cluttered with negative thoughts that we will not move forward.

Even though I’m self-employed full-time, I’m always looking for new and exciting ways to make more money.

1. Offer Experiences to Strangers

I recently learned about a new site called Vayable. which allows people with specialized knowledge and talents, local info, and time on their hands to create experiences that others can purchase. It’s basically a touring and activity company without the company. Anyone can join the site and set up an experience. For instance, the Kan Brothers offer motorcycle tours of San Francisco — which include helmet rental, a drink at a local hotspot, and a city map — for two to four people at $75 per person. In New York City, Kim G. is offering a personalized painting lesson for groups of two to six for a flat rate of $300; the experience includes acrylic paints; canvas board and supplies; studio space; wine, cheese, and crackers; and Kim’s undivided attention. 2. Become a Mystery Shopper

Mystery shopping gigs have always been elusive — until now. I had to pass a written interview to be accepted by Goodwin Associates Hospitality Services (and you will, too ), but I’m enjoying the experience so far. The company maintains a database of available shops from which to choose and allots a dollar amount for each shop. Last week, I accepted an evening shop at Heartland Brewery for the amount of $60. Between my guest and me, we had to purchase one beer and one other drink, an appetizer, two entrees, and a dessert. The $60 fee may not seem like much — and it isn’t (you’re not going to walk away with much cash) — but if you purchase the cheaper menu items and your bill (plus tip) comes in under the allotted fee, you pocket whatever’s left over when the company pays you. After dining, however, shoppers are required to detail the experience on a questionnaire and provide a receipt in order to receive the fee. As I mentioned, you won’t make much money unless you’re thrifty, but at least you’ll receive a free meal.

3. Seek Out Odd Jobs on the Internet

So long as Craigslist is around, so too will there be part-time gigs like walking dogs, house cleaning, babysitting, yard work, and more. If you have the skills to accomplish these tasks, by all means get in touch with the poster. Depending on the nature of the job, you can make anywhere from $8 to $60 an hour, usually all cash and under the table. (See also: The 6 Best Lawn Mowers )

4. Have a Garage or Yard Sale

Every one of us has a storage unit, attic, basement, or garage piled high with things that we no longer want or need. So why are they sitting around collecting dust or rotting away? Take a day to clean out the clutter and put them up for sale, whether it’s on your front yard or on the Internet. If you have items that you think are more valuable than what you’ll get for them at a yard sale, take them to a pawnshop. Pawnshops are great for electronics, musical instruments, jewelry, and tools.

How to Make More Money Now

Do you need to make more money now? I do. I need to make $11,000 in the next 2 months, but I believe that I can do it. Plus, I can teach you how to make more money now as well!

I certainly didn't see it coming. Tax time came around and I didn't expect a huge return, but I definitely didn't expect to owe $4,300! After all, I claimed zero for my full-time job and I paid in quarterly for my side business. Add to that the amount that I owe in quarterlies this year and the dollars that I still owe my ex, and I soon realized that I need to come up with $11,000 by the end of May!

Money Set Aside

Because I didn't know what the outcome of my taxes were going to be, I did have some money set aside as a just in case , so this brings down the total to about $6k. But, $6k in 2 months. That's still one heck of a challenge.

Living Frugally

If I want to, I can live pretty freaking cheap. If I commit to buying groceries and not going out to eat as well as not do anything else that costs money (sorry golf clubs, but you're staying in the garage), I could have a disposable income of about $1,500 a month. So now I'm down to owing $3k.

Side Business

On average, I can count on my side businesses (mainly, this website) producing about $1,000 per month net of expenses. So, now I'm living unbelievably cheap, using all of my side income toward my expenses, but I'm still $1,000 short of what I need to pay all of my bills. So what can I do to increase my income by $500 (at least) each month?

Ask For a Raise?

If you have worked for a while in Corporate America, you know that making some extra money is not as easy as just going to your boss and asking for a raise. In order to get that desired pay increase, you have to show concrete examples of why you are worth the extra money, which means that you should have been working your tail off for the past 6 months, not just in the last week. So, just standing in front of your boss with your hand out (palm up) probably isn't going to work at this point.

Earn Extra With My Talents

So far, I've been able to earn a pretty decent side income by writing about personal finance. People like to read my stuff (for some reason), and they're always interested in making more money. That's why there are thousands of personal finance sites out there. Do you know what's tough about managing a personal finance site though? Coming up with articles every other day! For me, this is actually pretty easy since my mind is always thinking about business and making a profit.

So, here's my idea: why not offer to write articles for other personal finance bloggers. I can whip up an article in less than 15 minutes, charge $10 for it, and suddenly I'm making $60 an hour. Over the course of the next couple months, I estimate that I could find an interest for 100+ articles (I already have an order for 10). And there's my $1,000!

It's Easy to Make Money If You're Already Making Money

So what's the moral of my story? Basically, if I didn't already have other avenues of making money, I would have been screwed, or at least it would have been way more difficult to come up with an extra thousand bucks in such a short amount of time. If you currently breathe air (by the way, that's all of us) you're going to have a situation arise in your life where you need to make more money, so I suggest that instead of waiting until that moment of desperation, make some more money today.
