Productivity Tips for Work at Home Moms

Sharing the tips and tools I use to actually accomplish something while working from home and caring for my 9 month old and 3 year old because we all know it's not always easy!

Let me first just say that I don't feel I am technically a Work at Home Mom.

I mean, I'm a work at home mom because I work at home and I'm a mom (aren't we all?), but I actually have a job outside the home most of the time. I've been on maternity leave for almost a full year now (crazy!), but I only have a few months left before I head back to my day job as a high school teacher.

And all of my American friends here are saying, one YEAR?! . Yes, in Canada, we get 52 weeks of maternity and parental leave, and my employers were generous enough to extend that for me even further. So though I wouldn't technically call myself a Work at Home Mom because it might give people the impression that I don't also work outside of the home.

That being said, I feel like I've had a pretty realistic year-long taste of what being a Work at Home Mom is like, and it might have taken me about 9 months but I think I've finally figured out how to be productive and still sane.

And I treasure my sanity.

As does my husband.

I am the kind of person who can't leave work alone. If there is work I need to do, I must do it and I must do it now. I am the complete opposite of a procrastinator. So look at the tips I'm offering here with that in mind.

My biggest struggle has always been separating blog work and life, and to be honest, I just never really had a life outside of blog work when I was at home. I spend a minimum of 30 hours a week, probably 40, working on this here blog when I'm home, and I have driven myself to the edge of crazy (but don't ask my husband he'd say I was long gone!).

But I started making some changes to how I work when I'm at home, and I remember texting my husband telling him how much this was going to change the game. I felt infinitely better, more relaxed, less stressed, and I cut a good 1-3 hours off of my work day, every day.

Because I'm a serious workaholic, productivity is close to my heart. My husband often reminded me that if I kept going as I was going, I was not going to be able to keep up the blog for very long. And if you're not a blogger and you're wondering what actually takes sooooo much time, check out my post on What Food Blogger Really Do over here. It might be a little less taste testing cookies than you originally thought 😉

So, without further babbling ('cause we all got stuff to do!), here are my Top 10 Productivity Tips for Work at Home Moms:

(1) I let my kids fend for themselves

Not all the time! Don't look at me like that. My girls are 9 months and 3 years old, there are things they need help doing. But I am their mom, I'm not a clown or a comedian or an entertainer, and they play quite well on their own. I think it's good for children to learn to use their imaginations and entertain themselves. We're lucky enough to have large space attached to my office where we have a TV and couch, and a lot of their toys. They play, and I can usually get some time to sit at the computer and accomplish something.

One thing I don't do is leave the TV on all day long. My 3 year old loves watching cartoons, but I only let her watch cartoons at certain times. Getting to watch cartoons is a real treat, and if I need to make an important phone call or if I have something pressing that needs to be done and I need to concentrate, I can the TV on and she'll sit quietly for as long as I need.

Now, I'm not suggesting you let the TV babysit your young children. I'm saying when you have young kids like I do, it can be really nice to have special things that you know they'll sit quietly for, because every once in a while you're going to need some quiet!

(2) I figure out what the best time of day is to do different things

And I stick pretty closely to my routine most weekdays. There are certain things that are just easier to do when you know you might be interrupted every minute and a half. This is going to look differently for everyone, and I'm not at all saying you should do exactly what I do. But it took me so long to figure out something that works for us that I wanted to share it anyway.

Here's a glimpse at our average routine:

7:00-9:00. Everyone is up. We eat breakfast, get dressed, and I do some simple tasks like participate in Facebook groups and check/respond to/delete the easy emails (if I read something that needs more attention later, I mark it as unread so I don't forget to deal with it). The kids play.

9:00-11:00: My littlest girl naps, and my oldest girl plays in her room by herself for 45 minutes. I am either cooking/baking, writing posts/eBooks, responding to those important emails, etc. This is my most productive time of the day.

11:00-12:00: If I have something to cook and photograph, I often do it now, just before lunch. I like to try to cook when it makes a little bit of sense, like close to meal times. Most of the time, I'm cooking when both of my kids are up and playing and/or hanging off of my legs. I like to think this means the recipes I'll bring you are easy enough for busy moms just like me.

12:00-1:00: Lunch and the kids go down for a nap

1:00-3:00 ish…... My girls nap, and I lay on the couch, with my phone and touch base on social media. I try to take at least 30 minutes to close my eyes and put my phone down, because it just makes me a saner (is that a word?!) person. If I work on the computer throughout their nap time, I am kind of a monster when they wake up.

3:00-5:00: I'm back on the computer and the kids are playing, so I'm tackling those tasks that can be done more easily when the kids are awake. Sometimes editing photos, checking email again, finishing up Facebook groups, responding to comments or commenting on other blogs.

5:00-7:00: Supper, chaos, bed time (at least for the littlest one). I don't even try to accomplish computer work now and I'm rarely on my phone. I will clean up the kitchen, empty the dishwasher or do tasks around the house, but this is a particularly chaotic time in our house. My 9 month old is getting tired and cranky, and my 3 year old is generally energetic and running circles around everything.

7:00-8:00: My 3 year old is usually up til 8, so I can accomplish a little more, but not a lot.

8:00-9:00: Both kids are asleep in their beds, and I work like crazy to finish up the more difficult tasks of the day.

9:00-10:30: I try to shut things down and read or watch TV. It doesn't always happen right at 9:00, but I read pretty much every night. I've found that with the amount of time I spend on the computer and in the face of technology, the only way I can really unwind is to be without it. Watering flowers, reading a book, or out of the house.

Best tasks to do when the kiddos are up:

check email (the easy ones anyway) Facebook groups leave/respond to blog comments (part of Networking with Other Bloggers) cook and photograph (sometimes ) edit photos

Best things to do when the kiddos are asleep or quietly entertained:

Form sentences (write blog posts, read and write the important emails, work on the eBook)

(3) I take a nap

But I don't actually sleep.

I mean, every once in a while I sleep, because, hello Pure Exhaustion. But I take the time both of my kids are napping off of the computer completely (unless I have something really pressing to do). I've just started doing this and it makes my day so much better. I still lay on the couch with my phone and check in on social media, but I am rarely on the computer, and I try to take at least 30 minutes to close my eyes and shut off for a bit.

(4) I separate my computer time, my cooking and photography time, and my personal time and spaces

This is a change I made just a couple months ago and it's seriously changed my life. For the first few days I texted my husband, every day, and said how life changing this was, and how I felt so much better and so much less stressed.

Up until a couple of months ago, I used my computer in the dining room, off of the kitchen. My computer stayed on the counter in the kitchen all day if I wasn't on it at the dining room table. I was constantly trying to be on the computer, but also cooking something and doing laundry and chasing the kids around the main floor of our house.

We bought a new desk, an L-shaped one so it looks out onto our kids play area that's attached to my work space, and I moved my computer up to the desk, just to try it out. I felt so much better, immediately after moving it that it never came down. It was clear right away how much more productive I am when I can focus on either the computer tasks or cooking/photography or just shutting the computer off, when it's not in our main living area. It's so much easier to separate At Work from Not At Work, which was my biggest struggle since the very beginning.

My work space now is a good distance away from our main living area. When I go up to my desk, I'm not leaving it for a good period of time. I focus on what needs to be done and I do it. I'm not looking at the dishes on my counter or thinking about that recipe I want to crank out today. It was seriously life changing for me.

(5) I make lists

Man I love lists. My problem is that I was always having to rearrange my plans, my daily schedule, because kids make things a little unpredictable. So I would end up with all of these scribbles and arrows in my day planner and looking at that kind of mess just makes me feel like a mess, you know? A messy list adds stress to my day (and I'm not joking!).

Here's what I do now:

In my day planner, I have the weeks laid out with a spot for every day, and I also have a calendar. In my daily spots, I write out the major tasks that need to be done that day, work wise. I don't put any personal to-do's on there. I have a small notebook in which I write my schedule for the day, yes, with times and everything! I know this might not be the way everyone works, but it works for me. On this list, I include any personal things that need to be done and where everything will hopefully fit in my day.

And throughout the day, I scratch it out multiple times and start over again, because, hey, life is unpredictable, especially with kids! But when I look in my dayplanner I can still see my major tasks, and when my schedule gets too difficult to understand I just flip to a new page. In a dayplanner, you can't really do this because you only get a certain space for each day.

(6) I stay organized

This helps me feel like a sane person who is capable of running a blog and mothering her children. I need a clean work space (my new desk has lots of drawers to hide stuff in!), with no toys, and colorful post its. (Right. )

I stole this idea from somewhere I read it online… and I'm ashamed to not know where. But here's how I keep track of my posts:

I have 4 colors of small post it notes. One for savory recipes, one for sweet recipes, one for non-recipe posts (like these), and one for sponsored posts. This helps me to see if I have a good balance every month, and it helps me to see if there is good spacing in between sponsors or if I need to do some rearranging.

I write, in pencil, the recipes I plan to do on the specific days of the month on my calendar in my day planner, and when I complete something and schedule it, I place the appropriate color of post it note with the recipe name on that date on my calendar.

This way, when I need to move things around (which I always do), I'm not scribbling and drawing arrows (because looking at that kind of a mess drives me nuts).

(7) I've turned off my notifications

This is a biggie and it goes right back to #4 separating your time to do things and staying focused. If my phone or computer is beeping at me all day, it's hard for me not to check out what's going on. I get distracted, I get nothing done, and then I get stressed because I got nothing done.

So I eliminated the blinking and the beeping, and it changed my world.

(8) I close extra browser tabs

This is another biggie, and I know you're thinking, whatever. But if I'm working on the computer, trying to form sentences in the limited time that I have, and I have a tab open with Facebook or my email, I'm always thinking, I wonder if so-and-so replied to my email yet , I wonder what's new in that discussion on Facebook , and again, distraction, getting nothing done, stress, repeat.

(9) I create my own deadlines

I'm just not capable of leaving things until the last minute. I'm not saying you need to be more like me or that you're wrong to not plan ahead. These are tips based on what makes me the most productive, so if you feel differently, fine! That's great. Figure out what works for you and run with it.

Some time ago, I created this deadline for myself: I would complete, and have scheduled, every blog post (within my control, i. e. not waiting on products from a sponsor or something) for a certain month by the last day of the month before. Having that concrete deadline in place gave me something to work toward and gave me so much more peace.

Yes, there are times when a new sponsor comes up or I'm waiting on a product or I feel suddenly inspired by a seasonal ingredient and make something that I end up squeezing in at the last minute. I'm not saying you shouldn't be willing to change things up (see #6 and the post it notes!), but I like to not have to stress about a post at the last minute.

So yes, this means I'm baking Christmas cookies in August and Thanksgiving meals in April but it works for me, okay? (I'm joking. Kind of)

(10) I let things slide

When I have no other options.

Sometimes, things don't work out. Sometimes I don't get a single thing crossed off my to-do list. Sometimes I push back deadlines.

Because I am a mom, and kids sometimes need moms to kiss owies, change diapers, dry tears, feed them or bathe them.

Sometimes other things come up that weren't on your to-do list but they need to get done.

Whatever. It doesn't matter. Figure out what the priority is and deal with that, and deal with the rest later. Your world will not fall apart because you didn't get to cross every single thing off of your list (though sometimes I feel like mine will!). Forgive yourself. Move on. You still kicked butt.

If you have anything to add, I'd love for you to leave your tips in the comments below!

Work From Home

There was a time in the not too distant past when having a secure office job was the ideal situation. Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on who is telling the story), the needs and allowances of the workaday world have changed, allowing some people the liberty of working from home. Such factors as the status of the economy and the trend towards changing family dynamics have led to opportunities for creative individuals to not only work from home, but to create their own situations from wherever they may be.

This creates an ideal situation for employers as well as those who want to work from home. The US tax code also makes for an advantageous situation by the ability given companies to deduct the cost of independent contractors from their tax bill versus a traditional employee who must remain taxable as a cost of doing business. The net effect of this is to create an advantageous situation for both the employer as well as the home worker.

Below are just a sample of the avenues some creative individuals have used to not only survive from their home workplace, but to thrive and enjoy the benefits of their home.

Online Surveys/Focus Groups: There is a lot of information related to how a business is run that can be obtained from practically anywhere. And some businesses have come to realize that instead of sacrificing scarce (and expensive) office space to such functions, many more people can be employed for the same (or less) money working off-site. Those who gather data, whether it is for surveys or focus groups are just one example. Online Tutoring: Just like a lot of businesses, the tutoring world has been revolutionized by the online approach. If you have a knack for teaching others how to do something, want to be a teacher, or even are a teacher who is currently out of the workplace or wants to make extra money, you can put your skills to work by offering your know-how online. Combining your teaching skills with the love that young people have for computers and practically anything online, there's a winning combination that is sure to benefit everyone. Freelance Writing: If you have a way with words, chances are very good that you can make a good living as a freelance writer. There are several ways of doing this very profitably. There is what is called the lottery method, where you approach magazines, newspapers and websites in an attempt to sell them your work. This is called the lottery method because the writer never knows when he or she will strike the big time with the perfect work in front of the perfect publisher. The fun part is that you can make money along the way to your fortune .

Another method is using numerous online websites that allow writers to earn money for those who post their editorial needs on the websites. Students and teachers also hire writers to create papers and other documents for them when they simply run out of time or ideas.

Finally, there are countless other avenues for selling your writing to others such as businesses that need website copy, pr copy, and other sales materials. Executives and others often hire writers outside of their businesses to write speeches and other position papers in order to keep their ideas fresh and gain a different perspective. Data Entry: Data entry is a tedious task that is often farmed out by a company to independent contractors who work on projects from their homes. This is a mixed blessing for everyone involved. Fortunately, for a home worker who is conscientious and willing to work hard, data entry can be a blessing in disguise. Data entry is time consuming work, but this is very suited to someone working from home who probably does not have the distractions often present in an office, which would lend itself to lower quality work. Fortunately, just as is the case of any work, when you prove yourself as a capable and dependable worker, the world will become your oyster. Selling Photography: The photography business is one that anyone interested in it can enter to several and numerous degrees. From taking your own pictures and selling them to clients or to the general public as in the case of nature photography, the business can be very lucrative. The equipment often required can be very expensive, but at the same time, you can make do in many circumstances until you have the money to invest in more. Another approach for photography is the commercial aspect. Depending on how much you want to leave your home, you can hire yourself out as a photographer at weddings, and other such events. For those who want to stay closer to home, perhaps you have an area that might be suitable as a studio or a yard that might be an appropriate setting for backgrounds. Either way, or both, you're in business. Affiliate Marketing: How would you like a job that allows you to make money while somebody else does the work? That's affiliate marketing, and there are many companies who do it. There are also many people who make considerable amounts of money doing the work. Even better, once you have gotten more people to work for you, your profits can be considerable, with an ever-expanding network, making money for you every step of the way. With time and patience, affiliate marketing can be a good business. Virtual Assistant: Did you ever have a task to run and you simply didn't have the time or the energy to do it? There are a lot of business people who are in exactly the same situation and are happy to relieve themselves of their errand onto someone else. Even non business people need errands run from time to time. What stay-at-home mom didn't have an errand to run but had sleeping child that they couldn't leave? You could hire yourself out as a virtual assistant who could perform these tasks for them. And if you can't leave your home, you could hire your own assistant to be your assistant. Customer Service: Remember the last time you had a problem with a company and spoke to a customer service representative who was able to effectively help you with the issue? Remember how good you felt afterwards? You could create those feelings full time and working from home as a customer service representative working for a firm that farms out those responsibilities to workers offsite. Online Auction Seller: In recent years, Ebay, Etsy, and other auction websites have created an entirely new concept in selling merchandise. Gone are the days when if you had something to sell you had to go amongst them to get the attention of buyers. Now, all you need to do is take a picture of your product, write some sell copy to accompany your picture and sell the product, then post both online. You're in business. Drop Shipping: If you've always wanted to have your own business but didn't have the money to buy a lot of inventory, perhaps a business as a dropshipper is for you. Drop shipping is a business that can be as small as you want it to be, but reward you with big income potential. Basically, a dropshipper is a business (it's often no more than a website) that offers goods for sale and that receives money for those goods. When it comes time to ship the goods to the customer, however, the dropshipper. Mystery Shopper: Do you like to shop? Do you like to give your opinion about the customer service of a store or other organization? If you like being a spy, but the CIA never got your application, maybe a business as a mystery shopper is a good fit for you. Mystery shoppers are people who are employed by many different types of organizations to provide feedback on all sorts of things. You might, for example, be asked to report on employee attitude, their promptness in serving you, making refunds and other things. You might even be asked to check to see if the restroom is clean. Even churches and other unlikely groups use mystery shoppers (mystery worshippers?) to give feedback on how well they are serving their publics and other aspects of their work. Proofreading Jobs: Proofreading is another of those tedious but important jobs that many businesses are happy to farm out to home workers. Companies can produce hundreds of important documents every day, and their importance necessitates proper spelling and punctuation, for form if not legal reasons. Further, proofreaders outside of the company offer the added benefit of an objective, fresh set of eyes to ensure that standards are met.

Finally, a word of warning: There are many legitimate work from home jobs available. Some can be very lucrative and offer considerable freedom from the normal stresses of working in an office environment. Unfortunately, there are also drawbacks. First, out of sight really is out of mind in this case. When you are not a regular part of the company family, you can often find yourself on the outside looking in and rarely enjoying the trust that can be there for the asking when being an employee. Any trust that is accorded to you is the result of trust that you earn by hard work. This is difficult, but can be very rewarding.

Another part of finding work at home jobs are the scams that are a common threat. As stated above, there are many good, legitimate works at home jobs, when a prospect requires a fee up front, chances are good that it's a scam. Taking part in these, no matter how tempting the offer, will probably only part you from your money and leave you empty handed in the end.

The bright side to all of this is to remember that where there's a will there really is a way for anyone who wants to work from home. In fact, horror stories should not deter anyone since there are far too many opportunities for success available. It is also important to remember that with the changing economic conditions, opportunities stand a good chance to increase significantly in number in the coming years, so those who get on the bandwagon sooner rather than later, will probably benefit faster than anyone.

Denise, what kind of skills do you have? Maybe you can convert a hobby like cooking or painting into a part-time profession. Many stay at home moms also provide childcare services at their homes to earn some money.

Question: Legitimate Online Jobs

I read a lot of these jobs online. It's just too hard to tell what is legit and what isn't. Some want you to pay for them to give you a job. I never paid for a job in my life and I'm not about to start now.

I'm not getting rich but make some money. If you really put the work into it, you could make a comfortable living doing this. Also, it's free to set up your own store at ecrater. If you make any crafts, you could also sell them on etsy. com. Good luck.

Request for Personal Information

Many work at home scams are only companies looking to collect and sell your personal information or rob your credit card. No legitimate company will request any personal information or require an up-front payment of any kind before starting the job. As with all jobs, some information does need to be collected for tax purposes upon being hired. However, you should never give anyone personal information until you know the company and the job is for real. The best rule to remember is that any work at home offer that asks for money, a credit card number or personal information for no good purpose is a scam.

Finding a legitimate work at home job takes time, patience and thorough research. Always check the reputation of a company through a web search and be sure you clearly understand how and when you will be paid. Even after checking, if the company looks good but the job seems too easy, it is probably a scam. The best way to find the honest companies is through slow and steady connections. Good and honest work at home opportunities do exist. Just don't be taken in by the scams while you search for them.

40 Legitimate Work from Home Jobs (No Investment or Startup Fee)

Last Updated February 12, 2017

Working from home is a dream for a lot of us.

It used to be that stuffing envelopes from home and other (mostly) scams, were all you could find if you were searching for work at home opportunities.

Thankfully, the internet has changed everything, this one included.

According to a survey by the U. S. Department of Labor. the number of people who did some or all of their work at home increased from 19 percent in 2003 to over 24 percent in 2016.

There are a lot of companies nowadays that offer at home jobs.

Earn Free Cash

Try Swagbucks, the famous rewards program that pays you for watching videos, taking surveys, shopping and more.

Although, you still have to be vigilant as there are still many work at home scams out there.

From the biggest corporations to the smallest business outfits, MNCs to government institutions, it is getting increasingly common for employers to offer “remote worker” or “telecommute employee” options.

With escalating cost and stuttered economy, it is little surprise that the idea has extended to include even workforce that is foreign based.

That is how far the Internet has changed the concept of work!

So, where are all these great work at home jobs and companies that hire people to work from home?

What Are the Best Work from Home Jobs?

The best work from home jobs are the legitimate home businesses that can be easily done from home and make real money. Most of these jobs are computer and Internet based. So they are online home businesses or work from home jobs.

The amount of the money and the monthly income of the work from home job you choose is very important. You have to be careful not to waste your time and money on the jobs that don't make any money or the money they make is not worth the time you have to spend on them. Although there are some home jobs that are wasting of time and money, there are some others that can make you a millionaire. So be careful to choose a proper home job that works. In this article, I am listing some of the work from home jobs that are famous among people and then will explain about their pros and cons. After that I will explain about the best home businesses that can potentially make millions of dollars for you.

Make sure to read this article entirely to prevent yourself from making the bad mistakes in future. Many of the home based jobs I am listing below are not the best. They are just more popular. So make sure to read all my explanations carefully.

1. Online Surveys

This is the most common option for many looking for the best work from home job. You take a survey on almost anything from shopping habits of the consumers in your area to opinion polls and even product review and analysis. In general, the survey taker is paid through a mobile wallet like PayPal or even by check and they get anywhere between $1-$50 for every survey they undertake.

There are many websites which offer these surveys, and you often get alerts on your phone as well. The best option is to register with as many sites as possible and maintain a steady flow of surveys that you need to fill in everyday. You must be careful to avoid sites that ask for social security numbers or bank details. There is a chance of these being trouble spots.

Unlike what most people, specially the stay at home moms think, online surveys don't make the money that one needs to make a living with, let alone becoming rich. The most active and hard-working people have not been able to make more than $4000 in their best year through the online surveys, and this number goes down every year because of the competition as there are more people eager to make money through surveys every day.

In general, I think it is not a work at home job that is worth spending time simply because you can make a lot more money by spending much less time from the comfort of you home while you know nothing more than a stay at home moms knows.

Online surveys make money for the sites that charge people to sell the list of the companies that offer survey opportunities. Selling such a list was used to be and still is a hot online business. They sell a long list of the companies for a one time fee of $45 or so. However, it is you who has to sit and contact all of those companies and request them to let you have some surveys. Long story short… it is mainly wasting of time.

2. Website Tester

Many companies while designing their websites employ website testers. Their key function is to test websites, check on the ease of navigation and overall presentation. Each of these tests takes roughly 10 minutes, and the tester has to follow the set of guidelines that the website creator provides. Testers should sign up with 10-12 sites at least to be able to make $100-200 a month on an average. Most of the tester sites pay within a week and use PayPal facilities for making the payment.

All that you would require is a computer with webcam and microphone. That's not a big deal as most laptops come equipped with these facilities nowadays. Even if you need to buy, these are not very expensive accessories. It makes some money which is good to cover some expenses but it is not the best work from home job because because it is not always available and it doesn't make a reasonable amount of money.

You can't consider it as a serious home based business because there are some other options that can make a lot more with the same amount of time and dedication or even less. Besides, both online surveys and website testing are not among the work at home jobs that generate Residual Income. It means your income stops if you stop working.

3. Virtual Assistant

They are what the name says, Virtual Assistant. Many small companies who cannot justify the salary of a permanent employee often hire virtual assistants on a case by case basis depending on the job requirement. Your job is pretty much like an office assistant. The fee structure and overall payment methodology is variable and often depends on the firm's policies.

In fact you also have the Virtual Job Assistant Association which started in the 1990s. They initially began with just 28 members but boast of close to 600 members in their association today. Currently one of the best work from home job alternatives, it gives you the flexibility to choose a job as per your abilities and talent.

Compared to the last two jobs, this one looks like a better opportunity and seems like a real job. It is more stable and you can make more money from it if you work full time. Again, it is not the job that you can rely on to make a living with. If you really want to work from home full time, then why shouldn't you focus on the jobs that make more money while they also generate Residual Income?

4. Medical Transcription

One of the offerings of the new millennium, this today is one of the most sought after and looks like the best work from home job options. You need to listen to and type dictations from the doctor. Though a previous training and official experience are ideal but you can even gain experience on the job and remember there is a very strong demand for good transcripts.

The challenge here is different doctors have different types of pronunciations, voice quality, slur and some even talk with gums in their mouth. Normally individuals grow their expertise on the job. The hourly rate for medical transcriptionists is near $17 per hour which is great.

You can make a lot more money with this job but the problem is you can't do it without any training and experience. You have to be good in listening and comprehension and also writing. If you think that is the best option to make money from home because it makes more money than the other work form home jobs, then you are wrong. Still there are a lot better options that not only make more money, but also generate residual income.

5. Translator

If you are planning to quit your regular job and know a few other languages, then this perhaps is the best work from home job for you. Yes, a translator's job is never held back by geographic limitations and is particularly useful for hard to find or difficult to translate languages.

According to the US labor department's data, the number of home-based translators is set to increase close to 30% in the next 5-7 years. Companies can access these home-based translators for easy and quick delivery of services as well as efficient translation.

You can sign up for one of the global freelancing platforms like Upwork. com and create a profile as a translator. Those who need translators, will find your profile and will send you their job offers. You can also send offers to the listed jobs. Everything will be done from home and you can easily work from the comfort of your home and through your personal computer and the Internet. You will be paid online through systems like PayPal.

Some experienced and hard-working translators make a lot of money the way I explained above. To work from home and make money as a translator, you have to be a good and skilled translator first. You have to start working and don't expect to receive a lot of money at the beginning, to improve your profile through the positive and 5-star comments that your clients will leave on your profile. Although it can make a lot of money, but it is not that easy and you have to be hard-working and consistent. Besides, it doesn't leave you any residual income, so that you won't make any money if you stop working.

6. Clinical Regulatory Affairs Director

With an average salary of $150,000, this no doubt is a much sought after option when you are looking for the best work from home job in the market. Normally a lot of pharmaceutical companies look out for home based clinical regulatory affairs manager to plan, prepare and submit products that can be marketed both nationally and internationally.

Professionals can also author regulatory documents for clinical trial applications, assisting marketing of new products, creating briefing documents and the like. The fact that these can be easily done by home-based professionals’ means that companies can hire them on a project basis. This also enables professionals to work at their convenience and on their terms.

Although the income looks good, it is not a job that everybody can do from home. Like the translating that you have to be a translator first to become an online translator who works from home, clinical regulatory directors have to be expert in this job. So, this is mainly a profession that can be done from home, not a work from home job opportunity that everybody is able to handle.

7. Supervisory Attorney

Don't be too confused by the terminology that you are reading. Just like telecommuting attorneys or perhaps in-office attorneys, they provide legal counsel, make representation. In short, they go about delivering legal responsibilities as per their area of expertise and knowledge.

They must be active members of the Bar and even could be involved with reviewing of documents for ascertaining their legal validity. The average salary for these home based supervisory attorneys ranges between $117,000 2,000.

From the above explanation, you could easily understand that supervisory attorney also is not a job that suits everybody because it needs some very special skills and experiences. So, I skip it without any more explanations because here my goal is informing you about the best work from home jobs that suit the majority of people from any age group and with any experience and skill.

8. Web Developers/Designers

They are the brains behind the wonderfully dynamic websites that you come across every day. Their range of services includes customized web designing, modification and up-gradation as well as reworking on the core theme driving the content. This is perhaps one of the best work from home jobs in terms of the kind of demand that's generated for these home-based professionals.

Most freelance job providing websites term this particular job option as one of the most in demand and one that is growing at a relatively robust rate. With the advent of Internet and easy access to data in any part of the world, the professionals find it much easier to handle the demand from anywhere in the world.

There are millions of freelance web developers and designers who work from home and make a lot of money. The platforms like Upwork. com can be used as the best environments for these skilled workers to find their customers, as well as for the customers to find the best person who suits their projects. Those who work under such a condition, have to deliver a quality job, first because of the strong competitors they have on the same freelancing platform, and second because of improving their profile and attracting more customers.

Therefore, if you want to join a freelancing platform as a web developers who wants to work and make money from home, then you have to be really skilled in web developing and programming while you are also a hard-working person who delivers the jobs on time, otherwise you can't survive the competition.

9. Film and Post How to Videos

I am sure you accessed these videos several times on YouTube and various other websites but never considered these as potential employment opportunities. Yes indeed for many who choose to make a living but do not want to step out from the comfort of their house, this is a rather interesting job option.

You can earn close to $1-2 per 1000 hits, and the YouTube tutorials average close to 2000-3000 hits. From knowing how to make the perfectly iced cake to how to use old CDs for the craft to how to invest intelligently, the possibilities of the how to videos are unending and filled with many options that you could choose from. Often individuals used their hobbies like crochet or knitting to create content for these how to videos. A smartphone or digital camera with easy to get software like the windows movie makers can easily help you create quality content.

But this is usually easier said than done. It is a lot of work to create the how to videos while you don't know if people will watch them reasonably when you post them on YouTube. You will make money only when people watch your videos and click on the ads. Besides, creating the how to videos is not something that everybody can do from home. It needs some good computer and video editing skills and some special software.

If you think you can do it, then try it. If your videos attract attentions then you will make a good residual income because people will keep on watching your videos and clicking on the ads even if you stop creating the new videos after a while.

One of the other problems this work from home job has is that you will be dependent on the sites and companies like YouTube who always reserve the right of deleting your videos from their network. If they do it one day, all you have done will be down the drain because you will have to start from scratch and post the edited videos that usually takes several months or even years to become popular and attract a lot of traffic.

10. Direct Salesperson

Have you ever considered yourself as an entrepreneur but do not have the capital or the confidence to go on your own, then consider Stella Dot or Avon. These allow you to take forward direct selling opportunities with barely any or no investment at all. As a result, you can easily quit your day job and go ahead with direct selling of these wares.

You can earn commission anywhere between 20-35% of the overall sales amount. It is needless to mention therefore this is one of the best work from home job for the entrepreneur you. Normally it is seen that individuals keep getting better with time and gain more advantage in terms of job precision and overall commission that they earn. They can choose their own convenient time and conduct business as per their convenience. You can apply for most of these direct selling ventures through their website or phone number.

You have to be a marketer and salesperson to make a good income through this job. No need to say that not anybody is able to do it. Besides, you have to work hard to keep the income coming. You won't have any residual income and if you or the company your work with stops working, then your income vanishes suddenly. There are a lot better options to work from home and make money and have a residual income also.

11. Corporate Language Trainer

Language understanding and knowledge can be a great help and can often help you get the best work from home job if you are looking to work full time from home. There are many professionals who work for firms which need a specific language skill be it English, Japanese or perhaps Chinese. Many times they need to be bilingual to enhance their professional qualifications and also take forward their career prospects.

As a language trainer, you can easily conduct classes over the Internet through your computer. All you need to have a simple speaker and headphone and an overall training structure to conduct these classes effortlessly. Corporates also prefer the home based professionals over the full-time employees as they are more flexible.

I don't think this can be a good option for most of you.

12. Telephone Nurses

This is a highly competitive job alternative and often pays you as much as a regular nurse which is close to $50,000 per year or even more. So, if you have a nursing degree, but not in a position to join full-time job, this could be one of the best options for you.

Often you would find several health management companies like Aetna or even Humana, UnitedHealth Group and the like hire these home-based nurses remotely for treatment authorization, case management and educating patients for better awareness. While these type of firms regularly need the services of remote based nurses, they do not see the need for permanent hires.

So, this is a good work from job opportunity for the nurses, not for everybody.

13. Search Engine Evaluator

Have you wondered how organizations like Google and all improved the search engine results that they offer? Well, they actually hire people to review the efficiency, and as a professional who is freelancing, this can be a quick opportunity for you to make easy money without a lot of effort and with minimum effort.

If you are adept in the English language, have reasonable computer operation skills and can spare anywhere between 10-25 hours a week, this kind be the ideal type of job option for you. They have a reasonable payment structure and well-allocated companies who go about the entire hiring process and allocating responsibilities to the freelance staff. This, therefore, could often translate as one of the best work from home job for those who like to make between $12 and $15 per hour.

However, there are also some pros and cons with this home job. First, you are not supposed to be offered jobs every day and sometimes you can't work more than 15 hours per week. On other hand, sometimes you have to spend some time on learning and training that you will not be paid for. The most important problem of this work from home job is that it has a limited income and has no residual income. However, it is still good to make some cash every month to cover your expenses as long as you haven't a better job.

14. Travel Agent

Let's say you have a penchant for travel and a fair idea of the various popular destinations around the world; then it is your time to open up a travel agency of your own. In fact, real home based travel agents have grown to a robust 40,000+ and their annual earnings is close to $100,000 (according to what people say on the sites).

Though this industry has many scams and illegitimate dealings but honest and fair travel agents are always able to make a mark for themselves and make robust earnings without any problem. What is even better is the fact that you are doing something that you like and the love for your passion further enhances the job satisfaction and makes it perhaps the best work from home job for you.

How easy is it to setup such a job from home?

It is not as easy as most people think. And it seems people usually exaggerate about the income of this kind of home based business. I have talked to some of those who do this from home and they were not happy at all. It is a 24 hours work and you have to take care of so many things to keep the clients and customers happy. Sometimes your client is at the other side of the world, calls you and expects you to support him while you are already in bed. Still the profit margin is very low.

15. Content Creator/Writer

If you have the knack for writing but never really got an opportunity to explore this passion, you can try it. Worldwide there is a huge demand for content creators with a strong command of the language and natural flair for writing. This means that you can easily get the opportunity to create content for various websites, online tutorials, investment documents and many other related documents.

The content creator or writer gets an opportunity to use their imagination and creativity for making original content that go a long way in becoming the hallmark of quality and set a fresh benchmark in the work of creative content. Additionally, this will give you the joy of pursuing a career you always wanted. Quality writers can make as much as $200-300 a month on an average. Depending on the number of hours that you can devote, this number can rise quite significantly and further boost the earnings and makes it one of the best work from home job for you.

Again here, the global freelancing platforms like Upwork. com can be a big help. You can create a profile that your potential clients can find you through. You can also find the writing jobs and send your offers to the job posters. I know a freelance writer who works from home and makes about $500,000 per year. But it doesn't mean that all freelance writers can have such an income. Besides, it is a very time consuming and tiring job. Above all, there is no residual income which means your income stops instantly as soon as you stop working.

16. Teacher

Apart from the regular teachers in school, students in higher classes often look out for additional training and teaching assistance. In this context, it is often beneficial if you can access the internet and use your expertise in a certain field to help many students who need it.

You can create a virtual teaching room and help many students who are looking for easy to access and affordable teaching alternatives. This will help you teach at a time which is convenient for you from the comfort of your home and also help you earn money on your own.

17. Customer Representative

If you have a pleasant personality, talent to trouble shoot and a smiling disposition, be prepared to earn anywhere between $8-18 every hour. This is one of the best work from home jobs for you if you love chatting over the phone.

If you have the gift of gab and spare time, this can be the ideal working from home alternative for you. There are many companies which are on the lookout for people with the ability to speak fluent English for hiring as customer sales representative. These have both full-time and part-time options available, and you can choose a timeline that suits your necessities and time the best. Most times companies on the lookout for home reps advertise for these positions adequately. Simply be on the lookout and apply instantly.

From marquee brands like Hilton, Spiegel, Best Western and many others this job brings in a unique marriage of convenience and services and is mutually beneficial for both the client as well as you.

18. Quality Improvement Professionals

With an average salary of $100,000-175,000, these remote based quality trainers are responsible for constantly improving quality and design best practices to enhance the overall safety, reliability and utility of the products and services they are looking after.

Though working remotely, you can stand out for your keen eye for detail, strong leadership abilities and a marked ability to excel in pre-empting problems and resolving potential bumps well before they become major issues in the making.

The relatively comfortable salary outlook no doubt ensures that even while you are working at flexi hours, your overall comfort and security is never compromised with. On the contrary, it offers strong possibilities for pursuing multiple projects in one go and makes it best work from home job.

19. Home Based Franchise Owner

It will satisfy your entrepreneurial skill as well as highlight the best opportunity to enhance your ambition of working from home. With a minimum investment, it allows you to chart out an independent career course and therefore give you the freedom to make your own living.

The low capital investment is a big plus.

20. Call Centre Representative

Many companies hire these home based representatives to help potential customers with infomercials, brochures and addressing customer queries whenever required. The fact that you are home based gives you the freedom to work on your terms, and at the same time, the company also does not need to invest in office infrastructure. No doubt then it is one of the best work from home jobs.

21. Online Trading

Online stock or Forex trading is one of the other opportunities that can make a lot of money. Some people consider it as a work from home full time job but I believe they are not jobs. They are investment opportunities that help you increase your wealth. You have to have a good source of income that covers all your expenses and leaves some extra money that enables you to invest in currency, stock and real estate markets to increase your wealth and become wealthier while you are still making a lot of money from the good source of income you have already generated.

Becoming a professional trader who is able locate the strong and profitable investment opportunities (trade setups) has a process. You have to pass the stages to reach this level. Online Forex or stock trading is not a work from home job that you can start making a living with it, within one, two or even 6 months. It takes a longer time to become a professional traders who makes money through trading consistently. During the learning and practicing period, you have to have a good source of income that covers your expenses and gives you the peace of mind you need to learn how to trade.

22. Product Reviews Writing

This is another possible work from home job alternative. There are many sites that would pay you to use their products and post reviews about it. These products can range from skin care to any electronic goods or consumer durable products. The interesting fact is these do not need set hours, and you can post the review these products at your own comfort. This means you can easily adjust your daily schedule as per your convenience and easily incorporate the task along with your other home responsibilities. However, you must exercise caution in not trying on products that could be potentially harmful to your skin.

I am sure this option is out of the question for many of you because it can't really be known as a reliable home business opportunity.

23. Dog Boarding

Let's say you have always liked pets, have spare time and huge open space in your house, did you wonder that this could be a potential income opportunity. Well, there are many who are looking at possibly comfortable care centers for their pets when they are at work or traveling for work. In one go, you are addressing multiple concerns. You will do something you would enjoy, earn a source of livelihood and can properly utilize your spare time in a meaningful way. For many potential clients who are looking at more hospitable care centers for their pets, it could be a great boon and brilliant work from home job opportunity.

24. Yoga Instructor

If you have always enjoyed workouts, earned certifications for the level of expertise that you might have gained in yoga, the good news is you can also leverage this opportunity to work from home. Depending on the space that you have at home or garden, you can either hire an exercise studio or hold the classes at home. The sessions that you want to hold could depend on your convenience and availability of space. Spreading a word for these kinds of sessions can be quite simple. You could either send direct messages, email invites or even What's app alerts. An average of 4 sessions a week could yield anywhere between $10-20 per person.

It goes without saying that the success and the extent of the reach for a home based class like this would depend a lot on the type of marketing initiatives that you can undertake. You could look at hiring a professional or do door to door marketing as per your requirement to generate the kind of buzz that you would want to. Given the recent popularity and greater awareness on health and wellbeing, the market for this type of work at home job is not bad at the moment.

25. Direct Marketing

That brings us to a more marketing specific initiative. Think of the approach that some companies are employing to further their products. Well, it is rather simple. They hire sales representatives. You can work from home to sell their products and will get a commission on the basis of the total sales that you undertake and the number of people you can go on to recruit. You also earn a commission on the sales that these recruits manage.

This kind of opportunity works very well for individuals exploring working from home possibilities, and this is exactly why that these types of firms are going out of the way trying to hire homemakers and other individuals without a steady 9-5 job. If you have the knack to sell and can market products effectively, this is a great option. However, this kind of marketing initiative is not every one's cup of tea. For people who are shy or who cannot sell aggressively or market their products with a flourish, it could be a rather uphill task and quite unsuitable for them.

26. Search Engine Optimization Expert

Whether you are looking up for movies hotels tourist destination or just the most effective brand of shampoo, I am sure you would have noticed that all of these are search engine optimized. In other words, the content is created in a way that when you key in specific words, the content having those words will spring upfront on the Google search engine. But who decides what could be these words and how you could leverage on this content? Well, that is an SEO Expert's hob that usually works from home.

They do not have to do a traditional 9-5 job, and they can be as effective sitting in a restaurant as they would be in Times Square. No doubt, then this is a perfect option for someone looking at working from home alternatives with flexible hours. Often the consensus is that professionals working in the comfort of their home, surrounded by their loved ones can be actually more productive and efficient in terms of their overall performance and achievement.

27. Real Estate Agency

If you have a knack for business and have the drive, a real estate agency can be a great platform to capitalize on your working from home aspirations. The added advantage is that you do not need any special work experience or job qualification for this kind of job. All you need is an effective network of contacts and relevant marketing initiatives to make it big in this chosen area. You can easily circulate your contact number and advertise properties that are on sale or can be leased out. Customers would automatically call you, and you can fix a specific appointment to meet them.

Of course, you would need certain licenses to operate smoothly in this field but that's not too difficult and with a little bit of grit and determination you can sail through these opportunities quite easily. Given the huge demand for real estate at any given point of time, it is needless to mention that it can be a great option for generating additional income and effective earning source. The core idea is that you should be competent enough in your look out for fresh work from home job opportunities and at the same time convert these to actual business.

28. Insurance Agent

Another agency that can yield great returns and be a wonderful work from home job is that of an insurance agent. In very simple terms, the insurance company that you apply to will offer you commission on every policy that you sell. Your terms of commission will depend on the type and tenure of policy you sell. For this too, there is no need for any specific educational background or job experience. You just have to secure the license to sell and be an aggressive marketer of the policy. The kind of income you can generate is actually astonishing in many ways.

Imagine how simple life would be if all you needed to do was to click on ads. The good news is this is fast catching up as a working from home job. If you scan through any website, there are many websites that have numerous ad placements through the page. You can get paid by just clicking and watching the ad for a few seconds. Of course, you do need to conduct some research and decide which sites pay you the best. Unfortunately there are so many scams in this sector. So be careful not to get involved in illegal Ponzi or Pyramid schemes.

Once that is decided, you can get going and start generating steady income flow. You can also decide on the number of hours you want to put in based on the kind of income you would like to generate. This is quite simple. You can make an hourly assumption and multiply that by the total number of hours you can put in as a work from home job. In this way, you can regulate the total earnings and also channelize your energy into some other venture simultaneously depending on your need and necessity.

Is This Work-From-Home Job a Scam?

Even though there are many legitimate work-at-home opportunities, the scams of years ago still exist. But it’s up to you to find them and steer clear, and it’s not always easy to tell the real deal from a scam.

According to the National Consumers League and Fraud. org, there are some steps to take and signs to watch out for when you're starting your search for a work-at-home job:

Research, research, research: It’s important to know exactly whom you're working for. When you find a job posting you’re interested in, take special care to research the company that's hiring. Check them out with the Better Business Bureau and conduct a Web search for any complaints or less-than-stellar reviews. Ask for references: Any company that's hiring workers to work at home might have other people working for them as well. Ask how many and find out if you're able to contact any of them. If they are unwilling to provide references or contact information, it might not be a good sign. Think long and hard before shelling out any money: Some work-at-home jobs will require you to purchase materials or equipment to get started, and while that doesn’t mean they're not legitimate, it should be a red flag. If you are asked to pay for equipment, make sure you understand what you’re buying, and from whom. Also ask about the return policy for your equipment if your new gig doesn't work out.

Many online job platforms such as Upwork. com also have their own system for recognizing and removing job scams. According to the site, many of them involve employers who try to pay workers outside the site’s payment system, and engage in some sort of check or money order fraud. For more tips on avoiding job scams on freelancing sites, read about it here.

Working at home is a dream of many, and thanks to technology, that dream is coming true for more people than ever. But if you want to work at home, you’ll need to research the possibilities and develop the skills required for many of these jobs.

So what are you waiting for? With the right skills, you could be working at home in 2017.

Income From Google Adsense

Let Me Write Something About Me First PLease.

Hi! I am a complete newbie in the internet business, and yes up to this time that I am making this blog i barely made a few dollars in my PayPal Account. I have no knowledge on anything about internet marketing, website building, domains and hostings, PPC, CPA, and all these stuff.

But, what I have is the drive to work at home with my pc and the internet. I always believed that there is really A way - The way - on how to make an income online.

I tried a lot of programs besides knowing the danger of scammers; and yes, I was scammed a lot of times. I was aware of the risk right from the start, but there was just no other way for me to find out but to try it; and so it happened. I was hardly hit by a number of hundred dollars in trying those programs and am gonna share all about it in my next postings.

Without a proof of earning what am I doing making this blog(?) I am not in the position to write anything since I have no success testimony to share. Yeah! But you know what. I would like this blog to be an INSPIRATION for all the newbies like me who are doing their best, giving all their time, putting all efforts and resources together hoping against hope to make it, and earn an income online.

I know how it is to stay late at night researching on what to do; how to do it; which is which; and all these questions propagating in my head. Browsing the internet day in and day out. Reading programs, surfing for credits, networking and socializing, blogging, joining forums, doing PTC and PTR, sending emails, doing paid and online surveys, joining affiliate programs, and so forth.

A Dozen or More Other Ideas

Jen, Alicia, Carol, and Gretchen are all moms, but that's not all they have in common. These are the names of women who are proud to call themselves self-employed work at home moms.

Gretchen made $1,713.11 last month without leaving her home. Alicia stumbled upon a wildly successful home business that makes at least $70,000 every month. Carol? She made a six figure income writing blog posts for big businesses online.

Alicia Shaffer, the highest earner of all the moms mentioned, originally started out with the modest intentions of earning just enough money through her business to pay for her son's soccer. Now she'll never have to work for anybody but herself ever again.

Each of these women were your everyday average moms before they decided enough was enough. What's your excuse?

Admittedly these are the more extreme success stories. There are other stay at home moms like Krissy, who quit her full-time 9 to 5 to start a dog walking business.

It is probably safe to say she isn't earning a $70,000 each month, but what she does have now is freedom and the happiness that comes with it. Aside from her appointments with her furry clients, which she schedules herself, she can be anywhere she wants at any time. More on Krissy and starting a dog walking business later.

These kind of opportunities are readily available to every mom reading this. Your dream job won't come easy, but it is achievable.
