2017 was the year of making it big with viral content sites like Buzzfeed. Writing posts about the content that goes viral was the big thing and sites like Buzzfeed and Upworthy ruled the Internet but still not everyone knew about the big numbers these sites brought in, both in money and traffic.
These sites flourished until a similar site, Viral Nova went on sale that they came in the eyes of other bloggers and internet marketers. Back then, Viral Nova wasn't as big as Buzzfeed, it still isn't but seeing that it was earning a 6-figure income in a month made us wonder how much the others would be making!
Facebook was the biggest source of traffic as these sites used click-baiting technique to attract millions of readers to the articles. And seeing the success of others, a lot of similar sites have come up since then but Facebook has changed their algorithm to fight click-bait and the traffic numbers have dropped since.
