ilearning Global sends reps packing!
In this blog, I have been talking a lot about Top Tier Opportunities like Carbon Copy, Life Path, and Global Resorts. Many of these businesses' products are in the area of personal development.
Unfortunately for the distributors of one of the companies in this field, iLearning Global, they have have pulled the rug out from under the distributors that built the company. The board of directors has decided to no longer sell their products using an MLM compensation structure, but have decided to go with a more traditional corporate and direct sales model. That leaves a lot of people who worked hard to build that company with nothing to show for it.
Reading the company's statement, they cite the current economic environment as one of the reasons. I was not involved with the company, but it seems that they were selling a training package for $180 per month. From that $180, they must have paid out their commissions to the downline reps.
From what I read, by getting rid of the reps, they will now be able to sell the same package for $59 per month.
Now, I am not one to knock every MLM compensation plan, but that is something that you have to look at when analyzing any company that you are considering marketing for. Take a look at the product and what you can buy it from in the marketplace. Is the markup excessive?
If you are marketing a product with a huge markup like that it can be a hard sell. If you ask people to get on some type of subscription (also known as an autoship) service for something like that, that can make your life difficult too.
My heart goes out all of the iLearning Global reps who were building their dream and just had the wind knocked out of their sails.
