There's a 99.99% chance you won't make $30,000 in your first month online. Heck, if you make a dollar in profit in your first month online, you should be really proud of yourself!
In your first 12 months online, you're doing well if you have one month where you make more than $500. Yep, that seems low, doesn't it? But that puts you above 95% of the rest of the world. And if you're making a few hundred dollars a month consistently, even better. You're well on your way to making a living online.
In your second year online, provided you continue to work consistently on your business, you should have your first $1,000 month…and possibly more. You may even have a breakthrough month where you promote a product or offer consulting and make a few thousand dollars. This is an extremely encouraging sign.
Online business success is like a snowball. It starts small…with just a single sale or click. As you build a relationship with your subscribers, and continue to send them great content interspersed with some sales pitches for products you believe in, your earnings will multiply.
It took two and a half years of me running this blog and writing consistently every week to have my first 5-figure month, but when I did, I shattered all my previous expectations of how much money it was possible to make with a few thousand subscribers. It was incredibly worth it.
But I would never have seen that 5-figure month and subsequent ones if I had given up after a few months having only made a few hundred bucks a month (if that.) In the beginning, I poured my heart out and had nothing to show for it. Now, I keep it simple: I write here once a week, and do my best to help you (my subscribers.) I still do buy information products, but because I know where I want to go from here, it's much easier for me to make the buying decision.
So, my advice to you is: Shoot for consistent earnings. Actually learn all this stuff especially how to set up a website, how to use Google Analytics, and how to set up an email list. From there, it's all about finding a good balance between writing good content and promoting products you know your readers will love.
Above all, don't give up so easily. Put 2 years into this. Even though it feels like a long time now, you may find you actually enjoy getting out of bed and checking your stats, chatting with your customers and clients, and yes, making money. Once the sales start rolling in consistently, you will realize how worth it it was to start building your online empire!
