You can list your car with a peer-to-peer rental service, such as Getaround or Turo. Getaround claims that its drivers can earn more than $800 a month. Turo users earn an average of $720 per month. For example, you could earn more than $6,500 a year by renting a car with a market value of $20,000 for 15 days each month.
Each service provides up to $1 million of insurance coverage. Getaround takes a 40 percent commission on rental earnings and is available in San Francisco, Berkeley, Oakland, Chicago, Portland and Washington, D. C. Turo is available in more than 4,500 cities and takes a 15 percent to 35 percent commission.
