Easy Ways To Earn Money From Home

At-home jobs are growing in popularity. Unfortunately although they are popular, they aren't easy to get. However, there are tons of great and SIMPLE ways to earn money from the comfort of your home.

Below you will find some of the ‘easiest' ways to earn money from home. Some are more lucrative than others and some are more time consuming than others. Don't be afraid to experiment and find what fits your needs!

There are many legitimate opportunities for aspiring writers to practice their craft and earn money while doing so. Check out your local newspapers, community newsletters, and other organizations for information. In many cases they will pay novice writers for articles. Keep in mind that you may not always get to choose your topics. There are also many websites that will allow you to do freelance writing for blogs and websites. Be sure to do your research when selecting a company. Take a look at quotas, payment system (flat rate, price per word, etc), how they pay you. Also pay attention to reviews from other writers.

The best part of freelance writing is that it typically allows you to set your own schedule and write as frequently (or infrequently) as you wish, depending on the company. This is the type of skill that with practice you will get better and more efficient. It is also good for your resume if you wish to do something more with writing in the future. Keep in mind that there is a risk of the client or company not liking your work.

If you're interested in writing online, I have a much more detailed post on how to get started HERE.

2. Transcription

Many companies will hire workers willing to type up case files, reports, and other documents which need to be transcribed. This is often part time work, so your time commitment may be minimal. Keep in mind that sometimes there may be deadlines and depending on the company the workload may vary.

Okay, so maybe writing from scratch isn't your thing. Have you considered editing? Many publishers or writers will pay editors and proof-readers to look through drafts. If you don't already have experience in editing, check out your local colleges. Often times professors will be looking to pay people to proof read their journal articles and thesis papers. Sometimes even local amateur authors will be willing to pay someone to go through their book with a fine tooth comb. Keep in mind editing can also be needed for websites as well.

4. Phone representative

This might not be for everyone. These jobs can range from part time to full time (depending on the company). They often require that you have a landline with a ‘corded' phone and possibly even a hands-free head set. These jobs can vary from cold-calling for opinion surveys, appointment reminders, customer service, and other phone related jobs. Companies such as the Home Shopping Network, U-Haul, Fed-Ex, and technology companies will often hire for ‘tele-commuting' jobs. You need to be comfortable using the phone and have good verbal skills. Often these jobs tend to have a quota and are paid by ‘job' not by hour. If you are good at it then it can be a great way to earn extra cash.

Do you have a hobby or skill that you can market? The sky really is the limit with this one because there are so many specialized skills that are becoming harder to find. Not everyone can alter clothing, for example. That could be an easy way to earn some cash from home. If you are good at refinishing furniture, that is another example. Think about all the ways you can be crafty. Knitting and crocheting are other skills that not everyone has. Spend your summer making cute hats, mittens, scarves, and blankets and you might be surprised how much extra money you can make when autumn rolls around.

You can set up an etsy shop and start selling on there. My sister in laws has a great shop at MakeMineBlue and my friend Lora makes handmade jewelry at EagerHands both shops are on Etsy.

I know I've mentioned this before, but taking short surveys from the comfort of your home is such an EASY way to earn some extra cash or gift cards. This is the perfect option if you want to earn a little extra cash without a huge time commitment. Read this post about my how to make money at home with survey sites.

Or if you want to cut to the chase, my favorites are Opinion Outpost and Swagbucks.

7. Website programming/development

Are you familiar with coding and html? Not everyone is and this can be a lucrative way to earn some extra cash. Website development can be tricky and that is what makes it a good option for earning a little extra cash from home. A lot of companies may charge high fees for website development, but you may be able to find some up-and-coming businesses looking to get started. Set up an account on Odesk or Fiverr and offer your services.

Reselling things can be a great way to earn extra cash. Not only can you sell items that you no longer need, but you can hunt down items to sell on Facebook groups or Ebay. Sure, we all seem to have items that start cluttering our home and gathering dust. But you could take this one step further. Go to local garage sales and thrift stores. Look for bigger name brand clothing, purses, and shoes. You could also look for collectibles, rare items, children's toys (Shopkins or Monster High, anyone?) Not sure what to sell? Check out this list of 25 Things you didn't know you could sell on Ebay.
