OLD CISCO VPN Software Client Installation with a Profile Name and a. pcf file to install on my home computer

1. Go to the following web site http://us. fsu. edu/index_vpn. html to run the old version of Cisco VPN Client Software. Follow the instructions on the web page by selecting the installation based on your operating system.


2. After completing the Cisco VPN Software installation, the IT Staff or Core networking will give the FSU staff a "pcf file" which is connected to their VPN sign in profile name. The pcf. file is encoded with security access and your given Profile name. The pcf. file is case sensitive. This pcf file is only given to FSU staff using the OLD version of Cisco VPN client. If you do not have a PCF file, please submit a case or call 850-644-Help (4357) ask the Service Desk to enter a ticket for Core Networking. The customer is requesting a VPN PCF file to run the old Cisco VPN software.


3. Install this pcf file by copying it to your home computers hard drive in a special location. Go to http://us. fsu. edu/index_vpn. html and look for CONNECTION PROFILE instructions. This will lead you through the VPN client pcf file installation. You will go to your Start Button>Select My computer>Click on the C: Drive>Click on Program files folder>Click on Cisco Folder>Click on Cisco VPN Client> While in the Cisco VPN Client folder, right click the screen and select to create a new folder. Name the folder Profile (P must be caps) Click to open your new Profile Folder that you just created. Copy the pcf file given to you into this new Profile folder. Do not change the profile. pcf files name - it is case sensitive. Now that the pcf file is completed.


4. Click on Start> Control Panel>Click on System. In Windows XP, click the Remote tab and then select the Allow users to connect remotely to this computer check box. In Windows Server 2003, click the Remote tab and then select the Enable Remote Desktop on this computer check box. Click OK. To view a list of available computers on a domain, open Remote Desktop Connection, click the arrow next to Computer, and select Browse for more.


5. After installation and allowing remote connection, REBOOT your computer.


6. Have your work computers IP address and your profile name available


7. Click on start button on your computer.


8. Select All Programs on your desktop. Find Cisco VPN Client folder


9. Enter in "Connect to" http://vpn. fsu. edu//profilename.


10. Enter FSUID and password. Click Connect button.


11. Next go back to your home computer, click on the Start button>Click on All programs>Click on Accessories>Remote desktop connect.


12. Enter in the computer window your work computers IP address or view a list of available computers on a domain, open Remote Desktop Connection, click the arrow next to Computer, and select Browse for more.


13. Click Connect Button.


14. You are now connected from home to your office computer.
