So whatever your topic or interest is would determine what you pick as your niche. Well, by niche what I really mean is a group of people looking for something. Think about what lead you to this website, trying to earn money right? Well, this is a niche and what this website is about. If you're into sports, you may want to choose a particular sport for narrowing down purposes.
The reasoning behind narrowing down your niche is because you are the person creating the content and if the niche is too narrow, you would have too much content to cover. For example if you wanted to use health as a niche, could you imagine having to create content about weight-loss, beauty, medicine, fitness etc. all on your own? That's way too much work which is just like college haha.

Step 2: Getting The Right Training
To use college as an example, how do we learn new things? We are taught them by teachers who use various methods to do so. The reason this is so is because as humans this is how we learn but at the same time how we learn is different from person to person. Some of us learn visually, some learn by practice (me) and some learn by just reading.
So it won't be much different here but the major difference will be you actually have a choice (hooray) on how you learn, when you learn, what you learn and how fast your learn. This is way more freedom than you will ever get from college that is for sure.
