Ok, I know the feeling. "Make me money online NOW!" You've seen the scams, the programs that promise fast easy money and the promise that just a one page website is all that's necessary! Then watch the money roll in!
Readers - forget all that nonsense. I'll tell you what it is really like and how you really CAN make money online, even if you're just about to start your own business.

You're desperate! Despite your intuition, the promise of fast bucks is alluring and you click on the video or the link and there's the promoter promising to teach you how to make money online fast! They sound so "real" and helpful and they understand your frustration. They tell you:
. it's easy.
. Just follow the steps.
. you'll get traffic.
. just put up this banner.
. here you are. free proven sales pages, but don't tweak them. it's been refined to perfection and is guaranteed to convert into sales. FAST!
You may be a novice in business and only exploring start up options, but what does your sixth sense tell you? That its a scam, that if it's too good to be true, it probably is.
You know though, that people don't exercise rational decisions when they purchase. It's an emotional response.
If it's not too late, let me dispel some myths and share with you what an online business to start is really like and that it is worth the effort but it does take effort and skill.
An online business is like any business. To make money the following must happen:
- You will need to work at it - buyers or potential buyers need to know you exist.
You will need to build trust - people buy from those they trust
Yes, there's all that detail with building links, working the social media, the right sort of product, the marketing program, SEO and so on. but they all point back to those two fundamental issues.

Here are the top 5 myths that online marketers promote and here are the dispelling facts.
1. It's easy to make me money online
You see this so often and people just fall for it, pay thousands of dollars to learn how easily it is to set up a website for an online business.
The fact is, building a website is not difficult, in fact it is the simplest part of an online business. It's so simple Wordpress gives you the platform free and you can get a simple website built for $500.
The hard part about an online business is getting traffic to visit your site. Why should anyone bother wasting their time to visit your site? Truth is they have everything they want to know in the first 20 listings of a google search so why would any one bother searching past page 3?
If you want success, if you want the secret to "Make me money online NOW!" - this is where you have to start - by working at building a reputation that keeps human visitors returning and training the Spider to recognize your expertise. Your site will require consistent long term work and to keep at it, building links, building a reputation, making visitors want to see what you have and what new goodies/product/information you have that no one else has.
2. I can make me money online fast!
You can make money fast if you've been around a long while, have good page rankings, have loads of return readers, and have statistics in the region of 200,000 uniques daily. and of course, you have a product that people actually want.
If you are about to start your online adventure, work on building traffic.
TRAFFIC is the key to making money online.
and there's only 3 ways to secure daily uniques (visitors)
write loads of excellent content be active in blogs, comments, wiki's as a renowed expert work on social media
All of these take effort and skill and none of these are easy and none of these occur overnight. They take consistent effort to build links and to build a reputation. But start and start soonest.
Frankly, I wouldn't trust the reliability of a statement about making money fast, if your start is from a zero base line.
3. I only have to put up my product and they'll come and buy!
Too many people think that they've got a brilliant idea or product put it all down on an ebook or sell via a single sales page and put it out "there" on the net.
. you know, the old adage. "Build it and they will come".
Guys, come on'. Really. It simply isn't real.
The truth is no one wants it. That's why the 20th Century spawned an advertising industry to persuade folk they need stuff.
OK, here's how you test if anyone really wants your online product. Give it away for free, then test and measure if it's shared, tweeted or linked back to the product page. If there's no traffic or minimal traffic, well you know the answer.
4. A single webpage is all that's needed - that's just too simple!
I've seen this, and you've seen this loads of times, promoters assuring the unsuspecting that they'll be provided with exclusive proven material for a sales landing page.
Firstly, putting a page out on the web will not get you found. It is very very hard to be found. The fact remains websites, need hundreds if not thousands of pages written around specific profitable keywords so that their site is out "there" not one time but thousands of times as an expert in the niche.
More quality content is more likely to result in quality traffic.
A one page site with a sales page that's static - well, it doesn't pass muster.
Did anyone mention Google penalizes duplication of pages? A promoter with exclusive material for you to insert in your content and it must not be changed speaks too loudly of duplicate content. Don't go there!
5. My online business will grow quickly and spread virally! This way, I'll make me money online and sit back and enjoy the money rolling in.
Has your Grandpa told you, "if it's too good to be true, it probably is". Keep your scam radar on.
Fact is, people only buy if they trust you. Whether online or offline it is the same principal. Is your product or information unique and will do the job better than what is currently available? Is your site written in a tone that is trustworthy and reliable? Do visitors return? Do visitors refer other visitors?
All this is possible, but you must work at it. It takes time, resources and effort to please human visitors (traffic) as well as robot visitors (the Google spider).
Fast money online? I debunk this if you're starting from a zero base. It is just the same as starting out a physical business - you have to work at earning the customer and doing whatever you need to do, to make sure they return and bring a friend.
Now for the real truth about making money online:
It is a known fact that only 1% of those visiting your site will buy.

Here's some simple math:
To make $10 a day, you'll need 1000 daily unique visitors to click on a typical adsense of $1 CPC. (1000 x 1% x $1 = $10)
So, you're thinking " Just tell me how to make me money online NOW!"
The bottom line is to make money online, you need
- to work at getting unique visitors and lots of them (people need to know you're "out there") to be trusted and have a product people actually want
These skills are learn-able but it will not be easy and it will not be fast.

Yes you can if you
- already have online marketing skills know how to select a profitable niche know how to select and write on profitable keywords
understand SEO and optimzation know how to keep readers on the page and in your site know how to please human visitors as well as spiders understand all the ways to increase traffic know how to manoveur social networking, blogs, comments and forums have skills in creating images and infographics
And if you don't currently have these skills, the good news is that these skills can be learned, but it does take time.
