New VPN AnyConnect Client Software Installation - with a Profile Name

1. Profile Name. FSU staff should get their VPN Profile name from their IT staff or supervisor so that they will have permissions to network resources from home or on the road. The profile name gives special permissions to staff that require access to a special FSU resources i. e. remote access to work computer, databases, network drives, remote access while traveling on the road and so on.


2. The employee will install the VPN AnyConnect software on their home computer by entering the following link in their browser, along with their profile name: http://vpn. fsu. edu/profilename Hit Enter Key.


3. Next, enter your FSUID and Password. This will open up to the VPN service menu.


4. Find the AnyConnect link in the middle of the page, click on AnyConnect to install the software. It is a self guided install.


5. Next check your home computer to make sure that you enabled remote connection: Click on Start> Control Panel>Click on System. In Windows XP, click the Remote tab and then select the Allow users to connect remotely to this computer check box. In Windows Server 2003, click the Remote tab and then select the Enable Remote Desktop on this computer check box. Click OK. To view a list of available computers on a domain, open Remote Desktop Connection, click the arrow next to Computer, and select Browse for more.


6. After installing Anyconnect software and enabling remote connection, REBOOT your computer


7. Go to your Start Button>Select All Programs>


8. Select Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client


9. Enter in "Connect to" - http://vpn. fsu. edu/profilename


10. Enter your FSUID and password.


11. When menu appears, enter your work computers IP address. Also, if you have access to more FSU resources, click on the down arrow, select Browse for more which views a list of available computers on the domain. You may or may not have access to these resources. Try clicking on it and see if you have access. If not, talk with your supervisor and IT staff about special access. If no one in your area can help, please enter a Service Desk ticket and enter the information on what FSU resource(s) you are unable to connect.


12. You've selected the FSU resource, now Click Connect button.


13. Go back to your Start Button>Select All programs>Select Accessories>Select Remote Desktop connect.


14. Enter your work computers IP address


15. Click Connect. You are now using the VPN Services
