Online Employment Opportunities For High School Students

I graduated from high school in 1997; looking back now, I wish had the opportunity to get a part time job and earn some extra money on the side. Many of my friends, back then, worked at various job locations in the city; there was a special page in the school yearbook dedicated to those students who were employed while in school. The only thing that I did was work on the farm (no pay) and play football.

Many students of this generation face a tremendous challenge as they get ready to head out into the workforce after High School graduation or are preparing to go to College. Some of these challenges are:

1. Poor economy.

2. Jobs are being outsourced.

3. Businesses are not hiring or are cutting back.

4. Financial aid is becoming increasingly difficult to obtain which means that the prospective college student will have to get loans.

Become an Entrepreneur

For parents of a high school student, here is an opportunity for your child to go into business for themselves so that they can know what it feels like to run a business. Here are some of the advantages of owning their own online business.

1. They will learn how to compete in the world and become successful.

2. They will learn how to manage their time more efficiently.

3. They will gain an understanding of self-discipline.

4. They will gain the self-confidence that they need to be leaders in the business market.

I have just listed a few of the advantages that can come from your child being an entrepreneur. When I was growing up, there were no online, work from home opportunities because the internet was in its early stages when I was in High School. But today, this World Wide Web has become a giant when it comes to information, entertainment and employment and it will still continue to grow in the future. There is employment for high school students on the web; they do not have to spend an additional couple of hours of work at some job when school gets out for the day. They can be at home, spend a few hours working on their business (after their homework and chores are all done of course), and spend more time with the family. I am not saying that going out and applying for jobs in the city or town is wrong, I am saying that there are more economical ways for your child to have employment and earn money to pay for college or for other things.

If you are a high school student that has stumbled across this article and have an interest in starting your own home based business while in school, make sure that you talk to your parents FIRST before starting a business. If you get the green light from them to start your own business, make a personal and business plan (which I will show you how to make one on my website), talk to your parents about your goals and plans on how you want to run your business and most importantly, make sure that you get your homework done first and help around the house.

Remember parents, that you have the final word when it comes to online job opportunities.
