Use your product tags as a marketing tool. Be sure to put your name, logo, website and contact information on your price tags and leave them on when you make a sale. This way people will remember your name and know where to go if they decide they want more or if they're a gift, the person receiving it will know who you are as well. You can use any number of things for a product tag with a hole punch and some ribbon; scrapbooking paper, old gift cards, photos, etc.
Put your business card in with every purchase and at other businesses. Along with having your contact information on your price tags, slipping a business card in with their purchase will give them something to hang onto and reinforce your brand. Don't annoy other businesses by leaving cards around that they have to clean up, instead ask a local business if you can leave a stack of your cards at their till. Think about your supply store, your coffee shop, where you take classes for your craft - anyplace you may find a potential customer.
Use your shopping bags as a billboard. The more people see your name and logo, the more they will come to trust you and think of you for their next purchase. Stamp your logo on brown paper bags or have stickers made up. That way when people walk around after purchasing something from you, you'll be gaining free advertising along with a sale.
Team up with another artist. If you're doing a craft show together or even if you're not, have some postcards printed with photos of each of your products on one side and contact information on the other. You can split the cost of the postcards with the other artists and help each other gain exposure when you each pass them out to friends, family and customers.
Donate some of your pieces to charity or to giveaways. If a local radio station is holding a contest, offer them one of your products to give away in exchange for some free publicity. You could also choose your favourite charity and donate an item or a portion of your sales from an event (you can put a sign at your table letting customers know you will be doing so). Always be sure to participate in craft shows door prizes to gain exposure.
Send out a press release. If you have something interesting and newsworthy going on with your business, you can send out a press release. There are several templates online for writing one and if you follow the right format and procedures for contacting the press, you can get the job done without having to use a PR company.
