5 Reasons to Quit Your Job and Work for Yourself

Reason One - A Unique Opportunity Presents Itself

Sometimes luck smiles on you, and you need to be ready to respond. For example, maybe a massive client literally falls in your lap and you know from the first day of operation that you would have a consistent revenue stream. This can be an exciting prospective. However, there is one point of consideration; you only have one source of revenue. Thus, you have an opportunity and a problem, as you must keep your only and lucrative client very, very happy while at the same time finding ways to expand and quickly add other clients!

Reason Two - You Have Highly Valuable and Unusual Skills

If you have skills that are valuable, unusual and in demand, then starting your own business might be the right move. If you already know where you could find your clients, then you are likely in great shape. Knowing that you have paying clients ready to begin working with you takes much of the fear out of starting your own business and quitting your existing business.

Reason Three - You Know that Your Job Will Soon End

Is the "handwriting on the wall" at your current job? If so, then it may very well be time to look into starting your own business. After all, this will give you additional options that you simply didn't have before.

Reason Four - You Know You Could Make Much More Money

Now, there is a clear difference between knowing that you could make more money on your own and believing that you could. Perhaps you see an opportunity with a very clear revenue stream and that could lead you to start your own business. However, it is always best to test out your assertion first, before quitting your job, if possible. In short, it is in your best interest to be completely sure that the revenue stream you spotted isn't just real and verifiable, but will also be a stable one.

Reason Five - Other Revenue Streams

Do you have other revenue streams? For example, if you are married with both partners working, and you think that you can afford to cut one salary in hopes of getting your business off the ground, then maybe it is in the cards to quit your job and start your own business.

Ultimately, the decision to quit your job and strike out on your own is a very big and serious decision regardless of the overall state of the economy. That stated, with careful planning and the right idea, you too can leave your job behind and become your own boss.
