How to Develop a Positive Mindset (If You Don't Have One Already)

I promise you we are not going to get into any psychology here and neither is this a motivational speech but I expect you have noticed that, sooner or later, almost every guru mentions the value of you as an internet marketer having the correct mindset.

So why is this so important?

When you are entering a new endeavor let me ask you, at what point do you have the least knowledge of the subject? At the beginning! Correct!

This state of relative ignorance is usually overcome by beginners enthusiasm. Some guru has told you exactly what you wanted to hear: "You don't need any technical knowledge, hardly any time and very little money and we will do it all for you for $47.00 and in no time at all money will be "gushing" into your bank account!" Sound familiar?

I have heard it said that 100 new people start on the internet every hour of every day, round the clock. At one time, probably not that long ago, you were one of these. You had high hopes and a minimum of knowledge! Most of us have been taken in by this kind of guru hype, but how do we react? We buy some software that promises the moon and little or nothing happens. Disillusionment creeps in and that initial enthusiasm wanes and the positive mindset goes with it.

The next move is critical. You could buy another program and repeat the cycle over again until you give up. That is what an opportunity seeker often does. They look for the next 'shinny object' or the next hot new fad - and they buy it and stay poor. That's the wrong frame of mind and the proof is, it doesn't get results. Know any MLM'ers who are constantly jumping to the latest hot opportunity?

They're not getting rich are they?

STRATEGIC THINKING

The way to success is to develop the "strategic thinker" frame of mind. What's that and what's the difference? A strategic thinker investigates a given area and decides what to do and goes ahead and does it. An opportunity seeker will "give it a try."

According to a Harvard study if you have an opportunity seeker frame of mind you have a 97% chance of failure. Only the 3% of strategic thinkers succeed. So are you a 'trier' or are you a 'decider'?

Did Henry Ford 'try' and build a Car Company? No! He 'decided' what he wanted and set out and overcame all the stops and barriers that presented themselves - and they do - and he went ahead and revolutionized America. This takes persistence and is a completely different frame of mind and is what the 3% of successful people have - in any field or activity.

Most of us are basically lazy and want more for less effort. It's called "instant gratification!" If you are a relative newbie to the online marketing world you can be sure some gurus are preying on you and hoping you have an opportunity seeker mentality. If you do they know you are an easy sell!

Now be honest! Really ask yourself this question. Do you have an "opportunity seeker" frame of mind? For most people (97%) the answer is yes.

Well, OK! Now we know what the problem is and what we have to change in order to solve it and achieve success!

There is no free meal my friend. These may be harsh words but I am just trying to save you time and money. In order to succeed on the internet you do have to acquire some skills and technical know-how, but it's not that hard.

There are a few really good Internet Marketers out there who also know how to teach. You can work out a plan with one of them and follow it to prosperity rather than jump around from one guru opportunity to the next.

Become a strategic thinker and DECIDE what you want to do. Then make it happen and get into that top 3%. It is the winning frame of mind and it's a lot more fun when you know you can demonstrate real competence.
